Nine Mercy Schools Unite in Service at the Border

The Sisters of Mercy New Membership Team and Arise Adelante, a ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, hosted nine Mercy schools over two weeks in June. In total 92 students and 19 chaperones had the opportunity to learn about and serve alongside those living near the border.

During the day, students served at a summer camp for local children and visited local families in their homes to learn more about their experiences. In the evenings, they reflected on their service and built relationships across Mercy schools. The experience also included a powerful, prayerful visit to the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Throughout both service weeks, one theme continually emerged during reflection: we are all one human family.
