Mercy Education Board of Directors Announces New Chairperson, Welcomes New Member

The Mercy Education Board of Directors announced the appointment of Christine Basque Malloy as their new board chairperson effective July 1, 2024. The board also recently welcomed a new board member, Michael Truesdell, whose term began in February.

Christine joined the Mercy Education board in 2020. She has served as chair of the governance committee and vice-chair of the board since 2021. A conflict specialist, Christine provides services in mediation, group facilitation, and conflict management skills training. She is currently the Restorative Justice Coordinator for the Nebraska Mediation Center, a non-profit organization that serves 24 counties and four tribal nations in Nebraska. Christine holds an undergraduate degree from Boston College, a master’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago and a graduate certificate in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution from Creighton University. Christine is also a proud alumna of Mercy High School in Omaha, Nebraska. “I am grateful for the education I received at Mercy, and I look forward to supporting the mission of Mercy Education in this new capacity.”

Christine will succeed Terry Quinn, who completes his four-year term as chairperson on June 30 and will continue to serve as a board member. “As a Mercy grad herself, Christine is grounded in faith and lives the charism of Mercy,” Terry said. “I look forward to working with her as she transitions to chair over the next few months.”

Michael Truesdell, a Senior Consultant for Carney, Sandoe & Associates, served previously as the President and CEO of Holy Cross High School in Queens, New York, from 2016-2022; St. John’s Jesuit High School and Academy in Toledo, Ohio, from 2013-2016; and Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, California from 2004-2013. Mike also brings experience in financial management and leadership, having served as Dean of the Reeves School of Business and Economics at Methodist University, Vice President of Ethos Consulting Inc., President and CEO of Reming Information Systems, Vice President and COO of Guaranty Office Systems, and Vice President and General Manager of Book Centers, Inc. He and his family enjoy all manner of outdoor activities near their home in the Lake Tahoe area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
