Mercy Day Resources
Every year on September 24th, sisters, associates, companions, donors, staff, students, and all in the global Mercy family are invited to celebrate the opening of the first House of Mercy, on Baggot Street in Dublin, Ireland, in 1827. We call this celebration Mercy Day. It is a global celebration of what makes us Mercy. Throughout our international school system, Mercy Day is celebrated with liturgies, prayer, volunteer opportunities, parties and more.
The following resources are available to help your school community celebrate Mercy Day!
- Sister Carolyn McWatters, RSM, has written a short prayer for Mercy Day – available here. The prayer is available in English and Spanish.
- The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas recently announced their theme for Mercy Day 2023: “Walking with Mercy.” Mercy schools are welcome to incorporate this theme into their Mercy Day planning. Please email [email protected] to receive a copy of the logo.
- Educational resources on Catherine McAuley and the Mercy charism can be found on the Mercy Education website including links to the film In God Alone – The Story of Catherine McAuley and accompanying worksheets.
