Mercy Education Announces Mary Kate Becker as New Associate Director for Mission Integration

Mercy Education is delighted to announce that Mary Kate Becker will be joining our team as the new Associate Director for Mission Integration, beginning in July. In this role, Mary Kate will lead and nurture the Mercy Catholic mission, especially the charism of the Sisters of Mercy, within our member institutions.

Mary Kate’s journey in ministry began at a young age, deeply rooted in her home parish, St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Inspired by her early experiences in liturgical leadership, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Leadership at Marian University and later served as a youth minister in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Her calling to ministry deepened as she earned a Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Social Transformation, and a Certificate in Spirituality and Social Change at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. It was in the Bay Area that she first encountered the Mercy charism—an experience that planted a seed of connection to the Sisters of Mercy.

Since 2021, Mary Kate has faithfully served at Mercy High School in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where she began as a campus minister and now leads as the Director of Ministry and Catholic Identity.

Reflecting on this new chapter, Mary Kate shares: “I feel incredibly humbled to nurture our Mercy spirituality and the charism of the Sisters of Mercy. I feel a sense of urgency to do what I can for Mercy Education to continue to prepare young people to bring about hope and transformation in a world that so desperately needs it. It is an honor to do this sacred work.”

Mary Kate lives in Michigan with her husband, Preston Becker, a Catholic lay minister and Director of Spiritual Care at Henry Ford Health, and their two young children, Bella and Luke.
