With joy and reverence, we share the historic news from Rome: the College of Cardinals has elected a new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, the first pope from the United States of America.
This sacred moment in our Catholic Church calls us to pause, reflect and celebrate. As a community of Mercy educators and learners—compelled by Mercy, inspired by faith, and committed to principled leadership—we welcome Pope Leo XIV with open hearts. His election reminds us that we are part of something greater: a global Church rooted in love, service, and the dignity of every person. For our students, this is an opportunity to witness faith in action and to deepen their understanding of the Church’s mission. It is also a moment to renew our own call to educational courage—forming young people to be thoughtful leaders and compassionate agents of change in our world.
Let us pray together:
God of Mercy and Love,
We thank You for the gift of our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV.
May he lead with wisdom, humility, and strength, and be a voice for justice, peace, and compassion.
Inspire him to uphold the dignity of all people and to guide the Church with courageous faith.
Bless our students, teachers and administrators, that they may be encouraged by his example to grow in faith, lead with integrity, and serve with mercy.
Unite us as one Church, one body, and one global family of faith.
Amen.
