Celebrating Excellence in Education: Sr. Delores Hannon Named Recipient of the 2024 Mercy Education Leadership Award
We are thrilled to announce that Sr. Delores Hannon, RSM, has been honored with the 2024 Sister Corinne Raven Mercy Education Leadership Award. She accepted the award on October 10 at the 42nd annual Mercy Education Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
This prestigious recognition celebrates Sister Dee’s unwavering commitment and transformative impact on Mercy education, especially throughout her tenure as president of Mercy High School (Omaha, Nebraska). David Levy, who presented the award on behalf of the Mercy Education Board of Directors, shared some of the many ways in which Sister Dee translated her faith to action, and inspires others to do the same. He also cited her commitment to the school’s negotiated tuition program to ensure students’ access to a Mercy education.
Sister Dee accepted the award to thunderous applause and a standing ovation. In her speech, she thanked Mercy educators: “You are changing the future person by person by person. … You are the face of God to these young people.”
Established in 2022 to honor Sister Corinne Raven, RSM, a pillar of the Mercy Education community, the Mercy Education Leadership Award recognizes individuals who have made a lasting impact on Mercy education and inspired others through their commitment to the Mercy Education Core Values.
