Deepen Your Commitment to Justice: Join a 2025 Border Immersion Experience
From the Institute Justice Team: “In light of the presidential administration’s focus on mass deportations of immigrants and the heightened militarization at the U.S.-Mexico border, the Institute Justice Team will continue to host border immersions to educate advocates.”
The following immersion experiences will take place in 2025:
May 4-9, 2025: El Paso, Texas, United States/Juárez, CI, Mexico, hosted by the Columban Mission Center. Special focus will be on United States policies that contribute to migration’s root causes. Click here for details.
October 19-24, 2025: Rio Grande Valley, South Texas (McAllen), hosted by ARISE and its Mercy associates. Special focus will be on ARISE’s community organizing work. Click here for details.
Administrators, faculty and staff in Mercy schools would greatly benefit from participating in a border immersion experience, as it offers a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by immigrants and the impact of U.S. policies. Engaging in these experiences can deepen their commitment to the Sisters of Mercy Critical Concern for Immigration and equip them with insights to foster advocacy, education and compassionate action within their school communities. A school may consider coming together to sponsor a delegate who can return with meaningful reflections and actionable steps to inspire advocacy and education.
