Mercy Secondary School Students Invited for June 2025 Service Project in Texas
Last June, Arise Adelante, a Mercy ministry in McAllen, Texas, hosted students from Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School (Lower Gwynedd, Pennsylvania), Mercy High School (Omaha, Nebraska) and Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School (Chicago, Illinois) for a transformative week of service learning. This year Mercy schools are invited once again to participate!
Students and chaperones will collaborate with local youth to run summer camp activities for children ages 3-12. Mornings will be dedicated to direct service, while afternoons will feature learning sessions on immigration, visits with local families, prayer at the border wall, and other reflective activities connected to the Sisters of Mercy’s Critical Concern of Immigration. All service takes place on the U.S. side of the border.
Two sessions are available:
- June 14-21, 2025
- June 21-28, 2025
Interested schools, please contact Sister Jenny Wilson by November 22 to learn more and schedule an informational Zoom call. Coeducational schools are welcome! Mercy Education will be focusing on the Critical Concern of Immigration throughout the 2025-2026 academic year, so this is a wonderful opportunity for student groups to springboard learning, reflection and planning around that theme for the coming school year. Thank you for considering this meaningful opportunity to connect, serve and grow with fellow Mercy students.
