Mercy Day Toolkit Now Available
Every year on September 24th, sisters, associates, companions, donors, staff, students, and all in the global Mercy family are invited to celebrate the opening of the first House of Mercy, on Baggot Street in Dublin, Ireland, in 1827. We call this celebration Mercy Day.
Catherine McAuley opened the House of Mercy to respond to the needs of her time. What would she see as the greatest needs of today? War, guns, hate speech, violence against women, political divisions, unrest, fear of the other — our culture of violence compels us to embrace nonviolence as a pathway towards peace and meaningful change. Each of us can make a difference.
